Figurative Etchings and Engravings
All works are based upon my own thoughts and observations, some are sketched directly from life with a model others are developed from my imagination. I like to experiment with different drawing media to try and achieve a particular look or feel. Recently I have introduced more background textures to help compliment some of the strong graphic lines. Other images work equally as well with just a few simple lines, less is more.
Each print is individually hand made by myself, works are presented against dark backgrounds to show deckle edge of the papers.

Original etching with aquatint by Carl March.
One plate, one coloured ink and watercolour tinting.
Printed and painted on Banks cream paper.
Image size 6.5 x 14.0 cm.
Approximate paper size 18.0 x 26.0 cm.
Edition size 50 plus 10 artists proofs.
Exhibited at Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2005.

Sketched directly onto a copper plate with a brush and sugar-lift solution, then acid etched using traditional intaglio techniques.
Flowing lines help to exaggerate the model's proportions.
Especially pleased with the finished work showing Bella's pretty face and cheeky smile.
