Figurative Etchings and Engravings
All works are based upon my own thoughts and observations, some are sketched directly from life with a model others are developed from my imagination. I like to experiment with different drawing media to try and achieve a particular look or feel. Recently I have introduced more background textures to help compliment some of the strong graphic lines. Other images work equally as well with just a few simple lines, less is more.
Each print is individually hand made by myself, works are presented against dark backgrounds to show deckle edge of the papers.

Printed and painted on Somerset white paper.

Sketched directly onto a copper plate with a pencil, followed by traditional engraving techniques.
Attracted to the unusual view point of looking down upon the relaxing figure.
The immediacy of the dry-point scratching the surface of the plate can produce some surprising effects.
